about

This track was a long time in the making. I found the original samples years ago from a blank white label test pressing I bought in the Lower Haight that simply said in black Sharpe "Trippy Fuck Music"
And that it is...so I flipped this sample and chopped it all in pro tools, arranged it and had Devon play live drums over the drums I'd programmed on the Roland MC-808. Once the live drums were there, it brought the track to life but it really didn't seem like it would ever be complete until I had my lifelong homie, Jeremy Radway, lay down his funky bass licks on it. There was a lot of good stuff to sift through, but once I did, the song finally came together. This is such a weird track but one of my favorites I've done. I think beats can have movements and progressions just like any other type of music. I tried to explore that here.
