This is the instrumental version of a track I did with Stakzilla, from our Slick Shooze EP, "Bluntly Spoken." (slickshoes.bandcamp.com/track/batcave-party)
It is a beat I made on the SP1200 for a sample challenge, where I kinda hated the sample they chose, and to prove a point, I just sampled some ambient decay from the tail end of the song and made this slapper.
While the drums knock on their own, I knew Devon Ashley could play live drums over it and really bring it to life...and that he did!
The other "layer" in there, besides my cuts (cutting up our own samples since Serato became a thing, because why not?), is some spooky keyboard action from the talented Dylan Hostetter.
Anything else you hear is a sample from the SP.
